Luontolaulu – Singing with Nature
A personal path back to presence.
In this collection, author Sanni Orasmaa draws from traditional folk music, improvisation, and decades of experience leading singing sessions across cultures and continents. Her work honors ancient ways of listening — to ourselves, to each other, and to the natural world.
Presented here as a free resource, the collection offers insights, exercises, and background thoughts on the practice. It’s not a step-by-step manual, but rather a companion to deepen your understanding and inspire your own journey into singing with and in nature.
Begin wherever feels right for you.
Hello & Welcome to SoundByNature!
I’m Sanni Orasmaa, a Finnish vocalist and educator with over 30 years of international experience. From NYC jazz clubs to Munich’s Residenz Theater, from Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead to Finnish forest paths – my work centers on finding authentic voice through improvisation.
Today, I teach jazz vocals at Munich University of Music and coach actors at Helsinki City Theatre. At my forest farm between Helsinki and Turku, I offer Acting Jazz and Nature Singing workshops that combine professional voice training with Finnish traditions.
SoundByNature brings together:
- Intensive workshops for voice professionals
- Open educational resources from decades of teaching
- Seasonal florals from the land that grounds this work
The farm is 86km from both cities – the journey here is part of the practice. I also offer workshops internationally by invitation.
